Something really strange happened yesterday. Okay, so I sent myself a box of “documents” from Ireland—folders, essays, articles, etc. I received the box about two weeks ago. Being that I am lazy, I have yet to open it. Well, I opened it, but just one flap to make sure the folders were in there. Anyway, yesterday, I was searching all over for a disk, and decided to open the box. So, I start taking out the folders and then, what do I find? A stack, STACK of glossy 8 x 10 photos of movie stars! What’s the big deal? They aren’t mine, and I have no idea where they came from! There are about 50 of them, a disturbing amount of Steve McQueen and Linda Hamilton—and, my favorite, a color photo of Telly Savalas complete with lollipop-stick in his mouth! What is going on? It is literally one of the strangest things that has happened to me of late. Where did they come from? Whose are they? Why do I have promo-shots of Kim Bassinger mixed in with my very boring academic documents, and who has my Woody Allen articles? So, upon further investigation into “the box” I find that it has been re-packed, and obviously split-open at some point. It must have exploded somewhere over Iceland and the frantic freighters stuffed everything in there helter-skelter, including some poor movie collector’s stash. How weird is that? I think it’s really weird, being that its movie-related parahenelia, and not some photos of Irish landscapes or something. Weird. Then, Davidde freaked me out by telling me that they may be laced with Anthrax or something. Of course, that would anticipate someone making me my own personal death box, and as crazy as terrorists can be, I don’t think they have enough time to personalize shipments. Any insight will be welcome. . .
