I’m going to take a moment out of my article-writing procrastination to admit some guilty pleasures. Capital G, capital P:
1. Gilmore Girls. I must watch it every Tuesday. It’s like Dawson’s Creek crossed with Northern Exposure and just a dash of Kate and Allie. And, oh yeah, Sebastian Bach had a cameo last week as a washed up guitarist.
2. What the Hell??/I must see it! Moment:
“Honey”: Jessica Biel (oops! "Oh no no no...its JESSICA ALBA" correcteth one gingeryette.diaryland.com) playing some J. Lo-Flashdance-Hip-Hop chickadee. (Is it mere coincidence that her last name is so close to that of Jennifer Beals?) It will either be terrible or wonderful. I’m betting on terriful (think Showgirls). Best line from the film trailer: “This is what I (emphasized AND in bold print) do!”
Rivals James Van der Beek in the “Varsity Blues” trailer: “Ahh don’t want yowr liyaf!”
3. Celebrity’s Uncensored. Punk’d. VH1 Behind the Music: Britney Spears.
4. Enough Already!: Look Who’s Rich shows like “It’s Good to Be. . .” On E!, or the Paris/Nicky Hilton bios, or that god-awful Rich Kids documentary on HBO, featuring some kid who’s last name really is Hornblower (a Vanderbilt by marriage) and Ivanka (Note to The Donald: why not just name her Ivana? Huh?) Trump. And, of course MTV’s “Rich Girls” with some girl I’ve never heard of and Tommy Hilfiger’s daughter. Answering the age-old question of “Can men who look like a twisted version of Mick Jagger and Willem DeFoe really procreate? With a female?” And now, some VH-1 show all about how rich and famous people get discounted designer clothes. Newsflash: Gwyneth gets half-off at Prada. And, The Strokes like to wear old Levis. Maybe they should shop in my parents’ basement.
5. The Isaac Mizrahi collection at Target. Best pointy-kitten-heel boots ever!
6. Diet Cherry Coke. Where was it during my overweight teenage years? Where??
