Has anyone else noticed the Birkin Bag as Courthouse Fashion Accessory phenom? First it was Martha—who apparently got a lot of press for bringing it: http://www.gothamist.com/archives/2004/01/21/courtroom_style.php http://www.savemartha.com/ And now, Lil' Kim: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/lil__kim_charged So, I guess the cat's out of the (Birkin) Bag. Actually, it probably said more about how many people had no idea how expensive/popular the bag is until they saw her carrying it. I love when accessories outshine a crime! And, I love that Lil' Kim has one. Further, I love that Lil' Kim and Martha Stewart have anything in common. I mean, sure Monica had the mention-until-you-want-to-cry "dress," and I still don’t feel comfortable wearing a beret. Which reminds me—it's time for Shannon's Wacky Celebrity/Pop Culture Dreams! Okay, so this is like my, third "Apprentice" dream. I like to gauge how much something has been wedged into our collective psyche by how often I dream about it. Here's a round-up of my top five: Bill Clinton (to include Bill & Monica), Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, Courtney Love, Madonna, The Apprentice. Anyway. . . So, I had this dream the other night that Sarah and I were in the finals on "The Apprentice" and of course it took place at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn. So, anyway, I got stuck in the elevator with Kwame, separated from my team felt a strong need to "strategize." But, not being very business savvy, I just talked about how much fun the challenges had been (obviously, I would never win on one of these shows). So, we get back to the lobby and The Donald has set-up the next challenge: Read a New Yorker article and answer several questions about it. How SAT! I think, I've got it made in the shade—I kick ass at reading comprehension. Well, leave it to the big D to throw us a curveball! Instead of asking questions, he gets out a xylophone (yes, a xylophone) and starts to play a song, and we have to name the artist. It sounded a lot like the Angelo Badalamenti "Twin Peaks" soundtrack, but just as I answered I realized I was wrong. It was the music from "The Triplets of Belleville." At which point I woke up and realized my furnace was making loud banging noises.
