Further proof that April is a crazy month: "Smith, a Vietnam veteran, told The Kansas City Star Wednesday that Fonda was a "traitor" and that her protests against the Vietnam War were unforgivable. He said he doesn't chew tobacco but did so Tuesday solely to spit juice on the actress."

Further proof that MY APRIL is turning into a stress vice:
We had our budget hearing at City Hall, so I drove the Mountaineer over there with my co-worker. We park in the lot, go around the back to get the stuff out,
and as I pop the latch on the top part of the liftgate, the entire left side
of it comes undone and knocks her on the head!! Luckily, I caught most of
the weight (and that thing is damn heavy. I would say at least over 50LBS),
but it was totally off of its hinge! So, me, co-worker and the parking lot
attendant are trying to get it hinged so I can go to the meeting, but no can
do. In the end I had to leave
it there with the hatch half-cocked, all the while cursing Ford Motor
Company to the far ends of the earth.

The parking attendant and I had a nice chat about recalls and buying Japanese.
I am just disgusted and disturbed, quite frankly. I mean, it wasn't even bolted on correctly! She could have been killed! Or at least maimed or paralyzed. Apparenlty, some Explorers were recalled for the same defect, but Mountaineers were not--instead a "dealer warning" was issued.

I swear, sometimes I truly believe that chimpanzees make Ford products. And after working at World Headquarters, I'm nearly positive. Any Ford made outside of the Continental US seems alright, but anything made here is apparently made with glue sticks and metal.

Can you believe that??? I
was in such a state of shock--with all of the other stress--that when Joya
came to meet me in the parking lot I had no clue who she was until she was
right in front of me! In the end, my friend Patrick and another guy I work with got it kind of hinged and I took it to the dealer this morning. Unbelievable! Or, completely predictable and believable.

But, the budget hearing went really well, there was a great show of support and we were on the local news, so some good came of the day. April!
