A thing not to do when you are worrying about Visa/Fiance issues:

Google "Fiance US Visa Delay"

What you get in return are various sites from "legal" consultants that, from what I can tell, refer mostly to mail-order Russian brides. When you do this, you are faced with scary accounts of making it "all the way to the Embassy Consulate phase" (don't you wish you were an INS geek like me and knew what this meant?) and then having the Embassy person ask your (Russian mail-order bride) fiancee a question she cannot answer and then you are forced to re-apply, which takes an additional six months.

I had no idea MORBs were so popular. I've even been having crazy nightmares about the whole process. Such as, last week I had a dream that Daryl was secretly meeting with some environmental organization in London, and the head of the org. called me to say she was concerned that he was being monitored and would not be able to get his Visa because of his interest in the environment and radical organizations.

Of all the people to have to go through with this process, a neurotic pessimist with fear of authority is the worst to be. I suppose it would be best to be a famous person with a British fiancee who is independently wealthy and can therefore invest at least $1 million in the U.S. economy and therefore bypass the entire process and spend the (tense) months--during which the rest of us hoi palloi visa wanters spend worrying about whether or not we will ever see our fiance again--eating at Nobu and complaining about the U.S. politics (Chris Martin) or trying to regain popularity for a lukewarm music career (Gavin Rossdale) or doing whatever you do once you aren't so cool anymore and made a bomb movie with your wife (Guy Ritchie).

I actually had a fantasy yesterday where I write Oprah Winfrey a heartfelt letter about how difficult this is (insert montage of photos of me and Daryl), and she comes to our rescue and plans an elaborate wedding for us at her gazillion acre estate in Northern California.
