Is anyone else surprised that Jim Sheridan (of "The Field," "In the Name of the Father" and "My Left Foot" fame) has directed the 50 Cent movie? I was so shocked that 1) I refused to believe it and 2) Had to IMDB to make sure it was true. Not that I really care about JS's career, but take a look at this man (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0006487/)and tell me you see a gangsta film director?? I can only imagine the conversations that went on between Fitty and Jimmy. What else am I surprised about? Well, I'm surprised Tim Kaine is Governor of Virginia (only because I always assume the worst, and Richmond is one of the most uptight tassel-loafer wearing cities I have ever lived in). I was also surprised to realize that the annoying voice of his opponent, Jerry Kilgore, was nearly spot-on the voice of the weird teacher on South Park who has the hand puppet. I think it impressed Daryl that I even knew who that character was--he thinks that "Hipster Shannon is dead." Not that South Park = Hipster, but you know, I've got to dust off some pop culture allusions for the kids sometimes. Otherwise, sameole stress, different day. I suppose it's "good stress"--I've got to decide when/if to move out of my tiny apartment. I've got an app. in with an awesome apartment that is on the first floor of an old Victorian house--high ceilings, wood floors, backyard with tomato garden and front porch. Fingers crossed! Gosh, I'm boring myself now. . . My new writing class starts on Monday, let's hope the caliber of writers is in an upward spiral--I was pleasantly surprised with the group from my last class. Granted, whenever they talk/complain about twentysomethings I kind of cringe on the inside because they all end up looking at me as if I am going to attack. Never mind that I am no longer twentyanything. Have you seen the new Thomas O'Brien collection at Target? I LOVE it. Mostly, I just love the Eames-ian idea realized. I keep trying to share this enthusiasm with Daryl who does not fully understand/comprehend/appreciate the beauty of design really/truly being for everyone. God, I love Target. I heard a TERRIBLE rumor that Wal-Mart might buy them. If that happens, I will leave the country. http://www.target.com/gp/browse.html/601-1096034-8877729?_encoding=UTF8&node=15857351
